A new statue outside the South Cathedral. Ricci was a Jesuit priest, who came to China in the 16th century. He and his fellow Jesuits got in trouble because they tried to learn about and adopt the local culture so well. Rome at the time didn’t like that.
This painting looks like it’s of a European cathedral. There are Chinese cathedrals in Beijing, Jinan and other cities so I’m not sure.
