January’s theme for City Daily Photo bloggers is “Best Photo of the Year.” So I’ve gone through my files and chosen the photo above. I wouldn’t say this is a masterful photo. I chose it because politics has shifted considerably in China in 2015. My students evoke both Mao and President Xi a lot more frequently and with more reverence. Dissent is silenced so I’m not sure how pervasive these feelings really are, but it does seem that the Chinese are revelling in these strong men.
