June’s City Daily Photo Theme Day is “Me.” Now I don’t resemble the woman above, but she does represent my love of books.

My delightful friend Lolita
In May City Daily Photo bloggers are challenged to share photos of “Laughter.” Above I’m sharing a photo of my cheerful, laughing friend Lolita. How lucky I am to have such a creative, positive friend.

Buddha
In April City Daily Photo bloggers are challenged to share photos of “One Color.” I’m not sure what to call this color. Before cooking, the pumpkin was orange and now it’s more brown, but not exactly brown. I guess it’s golden orange.

This pair just looks tired. They aren’t going to nod off necessarily, but they look tired of each other.

Not the best photo, but I love how people use the lakes in Beijing in the winter
The January tradition for City Daily Photo is for bloggers to share their favorite photo of the previous year. I knew immediately it would be these cuties, whom I saw at the ancient village of Zhujiayu.

(I need a better lens to capture this action well. I’ve taken better photos, but this activity just gives me joy, especially when it’s brutally cold outside.)
This month’s City Daily Photo theme is nature so here’s a photo from a park by Chongwenmen.

If you can embrace winter and go out and find thrills on the ice, you’re “loving life,” which is City Daily’s February theme.

This month’s theme is: Look Down. You can learn something when you look down.
I took a walking tour around Tiananmen Square and learned that these rectangular covers are for port-a-potties Beijing-style. When there’s an event they would open the tops and put tents over the areas for a little, very little privacy. Now I notice them around Wangfujing Street and near Qianmen Avenue.

This month’s City Daily Photo theme is the Beauty of Simplicity and what could be more beautiful and simple than an ancient cup made of clay?
