CDP Theme Day: Photo of the Year

DSCN6513

Traditional yet Modern

2016 was the Year of the Monkey so this photo from an exhibit of Monkey theme seems like a good choice for my Beijing photo of the year.

There are lots of City Daily Photo bloggers with great theme day photos, which you can see here.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Face

Spring 2016 China 382

This week’s prompt is face. I’ve chosen the iconic Mao portrait. If you want to join the phone, head over to Daily Post, look around and find a picture or two of yours to contribute.

This week bloggers are challenged to post photos that embody the word:  Face.

Some good photos:

FYI: Mao’s popularity is increasing.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abstract

Spring 2016 China 013

This week bloggers are challenged to post photos that are abstract. Those familiar with China will know what is shown above, but still it’s an abstraction, not the real thing.

Some good photos can be seen:

Matteo Ricci

Winter 2016 493

A new statue outside the South Cathedral. Ricci was a Jesuit priest, who came to China in the 16th century. He and his fellow Jesuits got in trouble because they tried to learn about and adopt the local culture so well. Rome at the time didn’t like that.
